Belper residents reveal pool preference
Amber Valley Borough Council (AVBC) has found that residents in Belper, Derbyshire, would like the town's proposed new leisure facility to include a six-lane swimming pool.
More than 250 people participated in a council-run consultation, with 70 per cent calling for a mixed-use swimming and fitness facility. A total of 67 per cent opted for a proposed facility line-up that would incorporate a six-lane swimming pool; a teaching and training pool; and a 70-station fitness suite.
Exercise studios with additional health facilities such as a hydrotherapy pool and treatment rooms also comprised the favoured Blue option. AVBC leader Stuart Bradford said: "We now have to consider the detail to make sure the final proposals take into account the needs expressed by the survey results before we move to the next stage."
