The London Borough of Bromley has given the go-ahead for a £4m swimming pool and library to be built in Biggin Hill.
Suffolk-based developer ISG Jackson plans to build on the site of the town's existing library, replacing it with a new two-storey facility including a café, meeting rooms and a children's party area, as well as a 25m, six-lane swimming pool.
Ian Gifford, director of ISG Jackson's public division, said: "There is a great deal of excitement over the commencement of the new pool and library facility in Biggin Hill and the scheme represents a major investment in leisure amenities by the council.
"We are confident that once completed, the new facility will become an important focal point for the local community, providing a range of services within high quality, purpose built accommodation.”
Construction work is expected to begin at the end of February and the new facility is anticipated to open by early 2010.
