Kerr joins Winchester Tennis and Squash Club
Billy Kerr has joined Winchester Tennis and Squash Club as general manager on the eve of the Hampshire club’s 100th anniversary.
Previously general manager of Ilkley Lawn Tennis, Squash and Fitness Club in Yorkshire, Kerr has worked in the health and sport industry for 23 years, after graduating with a B.Ed in Physical Education and Human Movement Studies from Sheffield University.
Kerr said he’s looking forward to working with the staff to plan an exciting future for the club and says this year will see a big 100th birthday celebration for its staff and 1,800 members.
Winchester Tennis and Squash Club was established in 1906. By 1907 it had 363 members taking part in archery, lawn tennis and croquet.
One hundred years later the club has expanded to provide 18 tennis courts, six squash courts, two croquet lawns, a fully equipped gym and an exercise studio.
It has six professional tennis coaches and a professional squash coach, and facilities include a bar, restaurant, crèche, shop and physiotherapy clinic.
The club takes part in the National Squash Super League and the international Slazenger Tennis Open.
