Leatherhead centre in final phase of refurbishment
Refurbishment work on Leatherhead Leisure Centre has entered its third and final phase.
The centre, which is operated by leisure trust Fusion, is undergoing a £12.6m revamp, which includes a new 439sq m (4,725sq ft) fitness suite and aerobics studio, sauna and steamrooms, three therapy rooms and a four-court multi-use games area.
A soft play area, a crèche, a café and a new reception area are also among the A+G Architects-designed improvements, which have been delivered by Hertfordshire-based company Volker Fitzpatrick.
As part of the final phase, which will be completed by the end of the year, Fusion is canvassing the views of both regular visitors and the local community on the centre.
Steve May, general manager at Leatherhead Leisure Centre, said: "We want to know what people like about how the centre is run and what they would like to see change.
"Our team will be there to meet visitors and talk about any issues people want to raise. The new gym, café, crèche and soft play areas have been open for most of this year and the pool and sports hall will re-open in January 2011, so now is the perfect time to ask questions about the new plans and the vast array of new facilities".
