NHDC opens £5m Royston Leisure Centre
North Hertfordshire District Council has officially opened the £5m Royston Leisure Centre – the largest capital project completed by the council to date.
Operated by DC Leisure, the centre includes kinetika, a 40-station fitness suite featuring the latest Technogym Excite range, which incorporates an integrated entertainment system.
There is also a fitness studio, a large sports hall – which can be hired for a range of activities from trampolining to short mat bowls – and a 25m, six-lane swimming pool which will run a full programme of swimming activities under DC Leisure’s successful Swimming Academy brand. These include a variety of teaching sessions for adults as well as children.
Dutch construction company, Pellikaan was behind the build of the two-storey leisure facility, which aims to cater for all segments of the local community.
“We have developed a full programme of activities for our customers, and will carefully balance the needs of the general public, local schools and sports clubs to ensure that the needs of all our users are met,” said Richard Allan, DC Leisure’s general manager at Royston Leisure Centre.
Membership at the centre includes unlimited use of the gym, swimming pool and the workout class programme. There are a variety of membership options available including peak and off-peak memberships, and casual pay as you go prices.
