New Year opening for Meridian Leisure Centre
Meridian Leisure Centre in Louth, Lincolnshire, is scheduled to open in the New Year.
East Lindsey District Council will formally take ownership of the new £12m facility in early December, following its completion by Lincolnshire-based construction company UCS Civils.
Portfolio holder for leisure cllr Adam Grist said: "I am delighted to see the leisure centre nearing completion. When it opens in the New Year it will provide a much needed boost to sports and leisure provision in our area.
"We are working hard to help our community improve their health and quality of life and this leisure centre will support this effort."
Facilities on offer to local residents will include a 25m, eight-lane swimming pool with a moveable floor, a multipurpose space, a sports hall, a fitness suite and dance studios.
External pitches and a multi-activity community area will also be located at the site.
The town's existing swimming pool will close on 29 November in order for the existing team of lifeguards and fitness advisors to transfer and become familiar with the new facility.
Iain Dunton, manager of the Meridian, said: "I am looking forward to getting the new team together in the leisure centre for the first time so we can train them in the new equipment.
"It is important the team know the centre inside out because we want to give our customers a safe and first class experience from the moment they first visit us."
