New sports centre for Bassingbourn

The Cambridgeshire County Council has given the greenlight for a new £2.6m sports centre to be built at Bassingbourn Village College.
The new facility will include a multi-purpose indoor sports court, a gym with an all-timber floor and integrated dance space and a dance bar.
A reception and office area, shower and dry change facilities and external all-weather pitch will also be built, along with external landscaping, and parking spaces for 70 cars.
According to Bluestone, the construction company appointed to build the new facility, the project will involve a number of energy-efficient measures, including underground geothermal heating systems and a natural lagoon water feature, which will recycle storm water run-off from the sports hall and car park before entering an existing river nearby.
The construction of the sports hall is due to complete at the end of the year.
