PKL launches activemate pilot
Perth and Kinross Leisure (PKL), in partnership with NHS Tayside, has launched a new volunteering project called activemate, which is aimed at improving access to local leisure services for Perth-based mental health service users.
The scheme is a two-year pilot project which will train and develop volunteers to help local people access the facilities and programmes available at the trust’s leisure centres.
Users will meet their volunteer on a weekly basis for 8-12 weeks and benefit from a free year’s membership of all PKL facilities to encourage them to keep using the centres after their volunteer support period.
Volunteers will be asked to give their time twice a week, and will also enjoy free access to facilities themselves.
