Pendle Leisure Trust makes a Big Difference
Pendle Leisure Trust’s Community Development Team has won the Big Difference Awards Roll of Honour 2006 award in recognition of its work to change the lives of local people and communities.
The case study that Pendle Leisure submitted to the awards panel included details of projects such as Let’s Walk, Rhythm House – a music-making project for 10- to 14-year-olds – basketball coaching and smoking cessation sessions.
Bob Little, chair of Pendle Leisure Trust, said: "The case study we have put forward to the Big Difference panel represents a proud and satisfying achievement for Pendle Leisure Trust's Community Development Team.
“However, it merely represents the tip of the iceberg. There are simply hundreds of people from all walks of life, all ages and all faiths, cultures and creeds who have benefited and are still benefiting from the work happening in Pendle due to the commitment, dedication and enthusiasm of the Pendle Leisure Trust's Community Development Team.”
Pendle Leisure Trust's Development Team was awarded the title at a ceremony held at the Palace Hotel, Manchester, on 5 April.
Among the guests were BBC Radio GMR's Heather Stott, who compered the evening, along with the winner of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Kerry Katona, and Hon Hazel Blears MP.
