REPs prepares for LIW conference
The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) will be announcing the first recipients of its Lifetime Achievement Awards and revealing the findings of its Working in Fitness 2004 survey at the FitPro/LIW convention in Birmingham next month.
Nominations for the awards are in the process of being assessed and the results will be announced at an invitation-only gala lunch on 22 September 2004.
“This is the first time the Register involved itself in anything like this and we weren’t really sure what to expect from the nominations,” said registrar Cliff Collins.
“The response has been fantastic, however, and the calibre of those put forward is exceptionally high and will set an exacting standard for future nominations.
“The judges will have a difficult task in deciding on who will take away this prestigious recognition of achievement.”
The REPs team will also be releasing the findings of one of the most comprehensive studies into the workings of the industry.
More than 1,200 responses to the REPs Working in Fitness 2004 survey have been logged and are now being analysed by the SkillsActive Research Unit.
Coupled with statistics from the REPs own database this information will be used to identify trends and needs among fitness professionals in order to provide increased career development options and more uniform working standards.
The REPs team will also be manning its stand by the café and bar area of the FitPro/LIW exhibition.
