Revised plans unveiled for Crookes Development Centre
By Helen Patenall
Sheffield United is set to reveal amended plans for its proposed multi-use sports facility in Crookes, Sheffield.
The club has revised its scheme for The Crookes Development Centre to include more green space and landscaping, complimented by less development and reduced floodlighting.
The revisions are a result of suggestions made by local residents, who are permitted to attend the unveiling of the new plans at a public exhibition on 31 October. Additional feedback will then be considered before United submits its revised planning application to Sheffield City Council.
John Stacey, head of property at Sheffield United, said: “The purpose of the open session is to encourage as many people as possible to come along to our community facility on site and view the revised proposals in a relaxed environment.
“Feedback from local residents is an important part of the consultation process and there will be plenty of opportunity at the exhibition to air views about the project.”
The scheme comprises a grassed sports area, an artificial pitch, an outdoor multi-use games area and tennis court and an indoor fitness suite as well as an outdoor walking track and nature trails.
The centre will provide gym and coaching sessions, pay and play and league development as well as pre-school and school sessions.
The aim is to provide a community hub centered on sport which is accessible to everyone. Details: www.sufc.premiumtv.co.uk
