Sennheiser has teamed up with Polar Electro for the launch of its Momentum Sport earbuds which deliver Polar’s bio-sensing capabilities outside its own products for the first time.
As well as delivering quality sound, the earbuds from the German audio specialist offer Polar’s fitness technology to provide critical data to guide workouts, including a photoplethysmography (PPG), heart rate sensor and a body temperature sensor to monitor hydration levels.
Access to the data analytics ecosystem is also available via the Polar Flow training app. This includes expert-tier performance tracking, training analytics, smart coaching and voice guidance.
In-ear performance biometrics are connected in real-time for instant insights during training and stored for enhanced post-training analysis in both the Polar Flow app and a desktop browser.
Martin Grieder, GVP of Sonova Consumer Hearing which licenses the Sennheisertrademark, believes the company is delighted to partner with Polar to provide these insights, saying: “Polar is a legacy, pioneer player in the high-end sports watch market and a natural fit for our customers, who value trust, heritage, and innovation backed by science.”
The move represents a new, device-agnostic direction for Polar. CEO, Sander Werring, says: “We want to leverage our rich scientific background to help brands looking to empower their users with unrivalled fitness and health guidance.
"We’re happy to partner up with brands that share our dedication to quality and ensure that sharing our IP, our technology, and our ecosystem can empower their users to achieve their fitness ambitions”.
The launch coincides with wearable technology being top of the ACSM 2024 Worldwide Survey of Fitness Trends.
Available to buy from 9 April, the earbuds will retail at US$329.95 (€329.90 £258.92)
