LIW launch for Octane's Cross Circuit concept
Octane Fitness, the x-trainer supplier, is set to launch its Cross Circuit concept at Leisure Industry Week 2011.
Exclusive to Octane elliptical x-trainers, Cross Circuit combines cardio intervals on the cross trainer with strength training sets for individual workouts, or instructor-led one-on-one, small group or class sessions. Available as an option on Octane's new Pro 3700 and Pro 4700 x-trainers, Cross Circuit Pro includes two urethane PowerBlock dumbbells, an integrated PowerBlock stand, stationary foot platforms on the elliptical and Group and Solo special programmes.
In the Group routine, a personal trainer or instructor leads one or several exercisers through regimens that alternate between elliptical cardio work, and strength training either on the stationary foot platforms or on the floor adjacent to the elliptical. Trainers determine the duration of each cardio and strength cycle, along with the exercises and order of execution.
During strength sets, the elliptical tracks time and an estimated caloric expenditure, affording credit for strength training. With the Solo workout, exercisers choose their cardio interval time, and the machine prompts them to perform 8-20 repetitions of a strength exercise before returning to cardio.
Individuals can choose their own combination and sequence of exercises. Strength periods can include body weight exercises such as squats, lunges and push-ups, combined with an endless variety of traditional and functional movements using accessories including PowerBlock dumbbells, resistance tubing, barbells, stability balls, medicine balls.
