AERMUSIC, the first PPL approved digital download music service, is to be launched at Leisure Industry Week 2008.

The brainchild of Leisure Sound Solutions and Music 4 U from GMS Music, in partnership with Pure Energy, AERMUSIC offers fitness facilities and instructors access to legal digital download music for group exercise classes at the touch of a button.

Alan Cuthbert, Managing Director of Leisure Sound Solutions, explains that AERMUSIC was born from his experience of visiting facilities and seeing downloaded music used illegally in a studio class environment.

The new system is an affordable legal solution and one designed to help facilities and instructors to aid membership retention by keeping their class music fresh and up to date.

The downloadable music service allows over 75,000 tracks to be accessed, including 32 count format for aerobics classes. The music can be downloaded either as compilations or individual tracks, ensuring that it is appropriate for any studio session from studio cycling to step and yoga.

The music is held on a dedicated computer, the AERMUSIC Player. This is fitted with AERMUSIC software, courtesy of Music 4 U. Individual login and password details are then issued to all studio instructors so that they can download their playlists direct to the AERMUSIC Player at the facility.

The AERMUSIC software allows them to do this either at the facility or remotely for ease of use but only to the designated studio player and using the facility’s credit.

The service operates on a pay as you go subscription service starting from £1 per hour, so that operators need only pay for as much music as they need for their studio sessions. In addition, £549 inc VAT per studio is required to purchase the AERMUSIC player fully fitted with its bespoke software.

The AERMUSIC Player is available with a 12 month warranty. Software support is supplied by Music 4 U via a dedicated telephone helpline.
