Middle East expansion for Myzone-based group training product
Horizon Fitness is rolling out a small group training product in the Middle East following a successful launch.
Its ‘Engine Room’ product, which incorporates the chest-strap monitoring system ‘Myzone’, is a 30-minute high intensity training workout using functional training techniques. It was launched by the group in September in Al Athaiba, Muscat, with two other locations following shortly after.
The sessions take place in a purpose built studio made from glass, black chequer plates with black flooring and flashing red lights. Equipment used includes a ‘PurMotion Rig’, slam balls, battle ropes, Bulgarian bags, med balls and kettlebells.
The four high intensity programmes – V6, V8, V12 and muscle-building V10 – cover strength, endurance, balance and co-ordination and feature 12 participants at a time.
Myzone is used to drive the Engine Room classes and measure participants’ performance. Both the Engine Room and Myzone are charged at an additional cost to membership, bringing in additional revenue.
Horizon Fitness, which has 23 sites in the Middle East serving 20,000 members, said it was now looking at taking the Engine Room concept to Dubai, Jordan and London.
