Powerbag joins up
After rigorous testing in one of the world's leading military facilities, Powerbag has been formally endorsed as a fitness training and rehabilitation product by the UK Armed Forces.
Already being widely used as a conditioning and performance enhancing aid by elite sportspeople across the world, Powerbag has been recommended by Headley Court (Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre) for adoption hroughout the three arms of the British Forces. Hundreds have already been sent out to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Powerbag passed an intensive three-month trial period during Operation HERRICK in Afghanistan where they were a key element of Royal Marines and Parachute Regiment physical training resources.
The official written report from Headley Court said: 'As a result of logistical difficulties the rehabilitation equipment available at Camp Bastion, Helmand Province was limited.
'Due to the flexibility of Powerbag and the extensive array of exercises associated with them, there was no difficulty in ensuring patients were able to undertake all elements of their rehabilitation programmes'.
The report also highlighted the ease of transportation of Powerbags either en mass to operational theatres or individually by troops and picked up on the product's versatility.
The vinyl covered sand filled bags - which can be used on any surface both indoors and out - are compact, hardwearing and available in weights from 3kg-25kg, with 30-50kg being available on special order.
