UK release for the XCO-TRAINER
Flexi-Sports UK, which introduced Britain to the Flexi-Bar, has announced the UK release of XCO Walking & Running.
Already reported to be one of the most sought after pieces of training kit in mainland Europe, the XCO-TRAINER was originally designed as a therapeutic aid but now represents - says the company - a radical change in how users walk and run.
Unlike inert dumbbells, special granules inside the XCO-TRAINER act as an oscillating mass. By dynamically swinging the device back and forth, this is propelled rapidly from one end of the tube to the other.
The delayed impact of the granulates on the end of the tube triggers a series of responses from the body, particularly in the deep core muscles of the body.
The result is claimed to be a much larger recruitment of muscle fibre in any exercise, plus a faster running and walking speed than usual.
Following a study which showed that energy consumption was increased by 32 per cent when walking with XCO as opposed to walking without it, Steve Schiemer, Director of Flexi-Sports UK said: "What it effectively means is that when walking with XCOs you can either reduce your exercise time by nearly 33 per cent or increase the amount of calories burnt by nearly 33 per cent instead."
He continued: "To this you can add the benefit of strength increases in the core muscles and the toning effect XCO has on the arms, shoulders and upper back and chest."
